Quick start with the 3.6 inch tft touch lcd for arduino uno

Posted by Marius Cloete on

This tutorial will help you get started with the 3.6-inch TFT LCD.

You will need the following:

3.6 inch TFT Touch LCD Module Display Screen for Arduino UNO R3

UNO R3 (Arduino compatible)

Connect your UNO board and clear it by loading something like the 'blink' example.

Then disconnect the USB cable so that you can connect the LCD shield.

Make sure all pins make proper contact, I did connect the LCD shield to a UNO board that had the acrylic case

and not all pins made proper contact because the SD card slot hit the casing before all the pins went in properly.

You would need to download the example provided.

UTFT.zip

There is a library development here: https://github.com/dgolda/UTFT

but the zip file is the one I tested and it works.

Extract the file and copy it to your Arduino Libraries directory

 ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\libraries

 Open Arduino IDE and go to the following example

Examples -  UTFT - Arduino (AVR) - UTFT_Demo_400x240

Now change the following line

UTFT myGLCD(31,A2,A1,A3,A4);

to

UTFT myGLCD(ILI9327_8,A2,A1,A3,A4);

and Complile.

After compiling successfully, connect your development board with the LCD screen and upload the sketch.

The demo will start with the color bars.
